Dr. Norman Weinberger at Optimus Health Care served as the camp doctor for our summer camp at Columbus Magnet School. This is a requirement for the department of health. He also helped Carver stay in compliance with all state and Carver standards and regulations.
Mary Ann Genuario, the health and fitness director at the Wilton Family YMCA, and Samantha Lusher, the aquatics director and head life guard at the pool, made sure Carver kids learned how to swim and enjoy the water. The Wilton Y received a grant to provide a water safety program and chose to commit that funding to teaching Carver and Columbus camp kids. The focus of the program was to teach water safety such as how to save themselves if they fell into a pool or some other body of water.
Mr. Medard Thomas, the new principal of the Columbus Magnet School, could not have been more welcoming to the Carver community this summer.
Ted Thomas and his team at the New England Dance Academy taught Carver girls various forms of dance twice a week throughout the summer, which the girls performed with outfits supplied by the Academy for their families on the final evening of summer camp, Parent Night.
Michelle Breen, a Recruitment Specialist for the Girl Scouts, Worked with our summer camp girls on art and crafts and science projects.
And Stephen Sander chartered memorable fishing trips for our campers!
