$1M+ grants for local nonprofits to combat opportunity gaps
NORWALK — Ten local organizations committed to closing the education, workforce and other opportunity gaps in Connecticut were awarded a combined total of $1,032,000 from the Collective Impact Opportunity Fund.
The grants are the first issue by the fund, which was established in June 2019 by four Connecticut-based family foundations — Be Foundation, Dalio Philanthropies, The Per & Astrid Heidenreich Family Foundation, Ritter Family Foundation — and Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.
Through the Collective Impact Opportunity Fund, funders align their financial resources, expertise, and networks to work together with non-profit, business, and government leaders in making grants to help realize the tremendous potential of Connecticut residents from cradle to career. The founders have committed more than $1.6 million in funding to date.
Grants were made to: the Carver Foundation, of Norwalk; DOMUS Kids, Inc., of Stamford; the Family & Children’s Agency, of Norwalk; New Classrooms Innovation Partners, of Norwalk; Norwalk ACTS; Norwalk Hospital Foundation; Norwalk Public Schools; the RISE Network, of New Haven; Stepping Stones Museum for Children, of Norwalk; and Teach for America Connecticut, of New Haven.
