Tracey Magnet School is written about often here because Carver conducts a 5th grade transition program at this school and we are great admirers of the school’s principal, Theresa Rangel — and because the school keeps winning state and national awards! Yesterday, Tracey Magnet School was named a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing School by the United States Department of Education.
Carver's 6th Annual Golf Classic
See all the photos here in our Facebook album. Our Sixth Annual Golf Classic at Shorehaven Golf Club committee joined their colleagues for a great day of good fellowship! Mike Laganza, Head Golf Professional since 2011, a member of the PGA of America and a Certified Flightscope Professional, provided encouragement and support throughout the day. Master chef, Sergio Reyes, prepared the fine dining throughout the day and evening.

Carver's after school program includes fishing!
A donor sponsored a charter fishing boat has been giving Carver kids an opportunity to discover nature up-close and personally since the last school year and throughout this past summer. Here are a few Carver students who most recently took part in this adventure on the water. Based out of Norwalk, Connecticut, Pelagic Beast Fishing Charters offer unforgettable fishing adventures, using tried and tested fishing techniques that worked for our students.
Carver's commitment to Youth Voice
At Carver we call this positive action Youth Voice. Carver values the distinct ideas, opinions, attitudes, knowledge, and actions of young people regardless of the issues addressed by them. The term Youth Voice often groups together a diversity of perspectives and experiences, regardless of backgrounds, identities, and cultural differences. It is frequently associated with the successful application of a variety of youth development activities, including service learning and leadership training. Research has shown that engaging youth voice is an essential element of effective organizational development among community and youth-serving organizations such as Carver.
Norwalk Connections brings together old and new friends
Old and new Carver friends gathered for fun fellowship and to learn about the great work being accomplished Carver youth, thanks to the hospitality and leadership of Michael Mushak and David Westmoreland. Their majestic home high up on a hill overlooking the City of Norwalk and Long Island Sound offered a unique experience for everyone who joined us.
Why Carver awards scholarships to Carver students during their college years
Since 2005, 100% of Carver seniors have graduated high school on time, and almost all become first generation college students. But that is not the end of the relationship for Carver. To date, 85% of our Carver college students graduate from four-year colleges and universities within six years and many of them received financial support and personal advocacy from Carver throughout those years. We need to do more. We as a community can do more. Your financial support of Carver youth endures beyond high school. Your generosity Builds Lifetime Achievers who go on to impact our community for generations to come.
Join us for a day of golf and great fellowship, Tuesday, 9/24!

Carver loses grant competition, but we're happy about who won!
Carver partners with many organizations and we celebrate their success. The Triangle Community Center was the second grant recipient of 100 Who Care Darien in the amount of $10,000. Triangle, Carver and Laurel House in Stamford each presented our cases for support, and Triangle won the vote of the members who attended the event this past Wednesday evening.
