The spirit of giving is alive and well in Rowayton, where the community’s kindness shines brightest during the holiday season. Yesterday, the Rowayton Fire Department and the Rowayton Civic Association (RCA) joined forces again to deliver joy and cheer to the Carver Community Center as part of the cherished Mike Barbis Santa Toy Drive.
These gifts will be gathered with many others to be given to our community’s children at three upcoming holiday events listed below.
This heartwarming tradition, co-founded by Joan DeRegt, is a testament to Rowayton's unwavering commitment to spreading love and happiness. For years, the Rowayton Fire Department and RCA have collaborated to collect toys, books, and gifts for Carver children, ensuring every child experiences the magic of the holiday season.
Joan and John DeRegt delivered these gifts yesterday, transforming the Carver Community Center into a holiday wonderland. The donated items, ranging from sporting equipment and books to toys and gift cards, symbolize the spirit of love and generosity that defines this community.
This annual Toy Drive was renamed to honor the late Mike Barbis, Rowayton’s former commissioner, co-founder with Joan, and devoted advocate for Carver. Among his many contributions, the Toy Drive held a special place in Mike’s heart, making this initiative even more meaningful.
A special thanks to RCA President Jen Capelo, whose generosity added sparkle to Carver’s festivities. Jen’s donation of a Christmas tree and decorations for Carver's Community Holiday Party this Friday will help create a magical ambiance for families to celebrate together.
The joy of giving knows no bounds, and Rowayton’s volunteers' dedication proves just that. From collecting mountains of gifts to delivering them with care, their selfless acts of kindness light up the holiday season for Carver families.
As we celebrate this festive time, let us extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone in Rowayton who contributed to this heartwarming initiative. The collective effort and generosity of the Rowayton community remind us of the timeless magic of the holiday season and the importance of giving.
May the spirit of giving continue to inspire us all, not just during the holidays but throughout the year. Thank you, Rowayton, for keeping the spirit of the season alive in the hearts of so many.
