We are especially excited to share their fall 2019 Confidence Club data. LiveGirl Confidence Club is proven to build self-esteem and social emotional intelligence, the building blocks of a confident leader. Carver greatly values this vital partnership.
Afterschool programs across our country are making a huge difference in the lives of children, families and communities. Millions of our children and youth rely on federal support, determined by the U.S. census, to attend afterschool and summer learning programs. The results of the census will be used to determine how more than $675 billion of federal spending will be allocated for the next 10 years. It is critical that every individual physically living in Connecticut be counted in the census regardless of age, citizenship status, homeowner status, or language spoken at home. But far too many families are not counted, especially those that directly benefit from access to afterschool and summer learning programs.
On Thursday, February 27th, Carver will join with non-profits throughout Fairfield County at FCGives.org for a one-day fundraising competition organized each year by Fairfield County's Community Foundation and sponsored by Bank of America. Your support on Giving Day will help fund Carver’s important after school, summer and community initiatives.

Kana graduated from Clark Atlanta University in 2014. She is currently a teacher, artist booking exhibitions, an art instructor, and entrepreneur selling her artwork on Etsy.com.

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday next Monday, on Jan. 20, 2020, marks the 25th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the Civil Rights leader’s life and legacy. Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
Carver achieves its mission each year because of the hundreds of volunteers who are committed to our students’ success. Thank You!

Round Hill Community Church awarded Carver a very generous grant for our after school program at the Classical Studies Magnet Academy (CSMA) in Bridgeport.
A member of the church and its Outreach Committee, Michael Sandifer, met with Novelette to learn more about Carver and our methodologies and outcomes and how we measure them.
For some 15 years, Tremain Gilmore, Carver’s Teen Center Manager, organizes an annual community Christmas Eve luncheon for hundreds of people to celebrate the holiday together. This important event that engages more than 40 volunteers and many more donors offers a sumptuous banquet of hot food, free clothing, mountains of presents for one and all, and even face painting for the kids. A DJ keeps the merry music going and everyone informed and gifted. This year, the event took place on Saturday, December 21st.
