For students and families in Norwalk, the afterschool hours are pivotal times of enrichment and growth, thanks to Carver's 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) funded programs. This funding is the only federal source dedicated solely to afterschool programming, which is making a tremendous positive impact.
At the elementary level, Carver's Jefferson Scholars, Kendall Scholars, Naramake Scholars, and Silvermine Scholars programs introduce 5th graders to the rigors of middle school. Through study hall, homework help, STEAM projects, wellness activities, and more, students develop crucial skills for academic and personal success.
The high school programs at Brien McMahon and Norwalk High take this enrichment even further. In addition to tutoring and college/career prep, students gain first-hand workplace experience through paid internships and partnerships with local professionals. This holistic approach ensures graduates are poised to thrive in college and their careers.
