Maritime Aquarium is offering wonderful online courses for students of all ages

Aquar.seal_.jpg

The Maritime Aquarium is an important and long time Carver partner, offering crucial hands-on STEM programs to our students after school and during the summers.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, they are still filtering millions of gallons of water, feeding and caring for their many thousands of animals, and even now providing online conservation and science education to students. They are providing each organism with environmental conditions that replicate those in its natural environment. The husbandry staff is just as concerned now as they ever were with factors such as water treatment, salts, dissolved oxygen, temperature and light.

And there are other aquarium staff that revised its regular STEM-based, standards-fulfilling educational programming for K-12 students with just as much care. We urge you to see their selection of online offerings that teachers are already using as they adapt to distance learning.

The programs are being streamed live to allow for questions and answers and for adaptations to specific curriculum needs.

We know that the schools are already making good use of these excellent programs and we urge all parents to consider the rich array of programing made available by the Maritime Aquarium for their children.

We understand that most of the Maritime Aquarium’s virtual programs for families do not have a fee. The few that do have a fee of $10. However, if anybody would like to have their children join those sessions but cannot pay the fee, they should contact the Reservations department, as The Maritime Aquarium’s first priority for every family to have access.

This is just one of countless reasons why the Carver community loves The Maritime Aquarium!

The Maritime Aquarium is available to answer your questions every afternoon during their live Q&As and through their new virtual programs. Click here to see a calendar for all their virtual events.

While the public was unable to visit in person, the aquarium in Chicago let some of their penguins out of their exhibits to explore and for the first time to visit the other animals! In this video, Edward and Annie explore Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium. They are a bonded pair of rockhopper penguins, which means they are together for nesting season. Springtime is nesting season for penguins at Shedd, and this year is no different.

To find out how the seals and all the amazing animals are doing at The Maritime Aquarium, we urge you to call them and to take their online offerings.

The Martime Aquarium is an essential Carver partner. They bring both knowledge and wonderment into the lives of students of all ages. Please support our great aquarium — and the amazing animals that live there and miss seeing you — during this strange and difficult time.
