Make a Gift from Your IRA
If you are age 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to Carver. A QCD allows you to transfer funds from your IRA straight to charity without the amount being treated as taxable income.
For 2025, individuals may give up to $108,000 per year through QCDs (the limit is indexed for inflation in future years).
QCDs can also count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) once you reach the age when RMDs begin (currently 73 for most individuals).
Gifts must be made directly from your IRA custodian to Carver to qualify.
QCDs cannot be directed to donor-advised funds, private foundations, or used in exchange for benefits such as tickets or event meals.
Because the funds are excluded from your taxable income, QCDs provide a tax advantage even if you do not itemize deductions.
To make a QCD gift, simply contact your IRA administrator and request a direct transfer to Carver.
