Carver Community Center Joins Forces with Norwalk Redevelopment Agency in Drive for Affordable Housing: Take the Survey Today!

In a concerted effort to address the pressing need for affordable, high-quality housing in Norwalk, Connecticut, the Carver Community Center has teamed up with the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency (RDA) to launch this comprehensive online survey campaign.

Here is the press release. We encourage everyone to send the survey out to your contacts, organizational members, and neighbors!

We will also make postcards available at the Carver Community Center to help spread the word about this important initiative that aims to garner over 1000 responses to gather crucial insights from residents about their housing needs and preferences.

The survey, available in English, Spanish, and Haitian-Creole, will take no more than five minutes to complete. It will remain open until Wednesday, February 28, offering ample opportunity for community members to voice their opinions and contribute to shaping the future of housing in Norwalk.

At the heart of this endeavor is a focus on transit-oriented development (TOD) and affordable housing, aligning with the city's objective to assist more residents in securing suitable housing options. Recognizing the diversity within Norwalk, the survey seeks to capture feedback from individuals from all walks of life, ensuring that the resulting recommendations reflect the varied experiences and needs of the community.

The importance of community input cannot be overstated, particularly as the City of Norwalk embarks on its Affordable Housing Study. This study, mandated by state regulations, aims to inform policy decisions to facilitate affordable housing access for all residents. To this end, an Affordable Housing Advisory Committee has been assembled, comprising community members tasked with overseeing the study and guiding outreach efforts.

The collaboration between Carver Community Center, the RDA, and the City of Norwalk underscores a shared commitment to inclusive, sustainable development. By engaging with residents through public workshops, listening sessions, and pop-up events, the city aims to ensure that its housing recommendations are grounded in the lived experiences of its diverse population.

We encourage all Norwalk residents to participate in this survey and make their voices heard. Your input will play a vital role in shaping the future of housing policy in our city. Together, let's work towards a more equitable and thriving Norwalk for all its residents.

Take the survey today and be a part of the change!
